again, the card isn't 30dBm anyway.... and in the USA 30 is permitted
anyway.... okay, well 27 in 2.4 GHz, which should work just fine for the
24.7276dBmalfa.

At one point in history there was a patch for the r8187 driver (really
bad vendor driver garbage imho) that added a 'hipower' priv to the card,
but the vast majority of the reports I got back was "I used 'iwpriv
wlan0 hipower 1' and now my card makes this wierd high pitched squeal
and refuses to transmit".
This free hint goes not just for Johnny but for everyone reading the
list. Stop messing with the tx power, unless you sincerely know what
you are doing all you are going to get is dirty signal, then a broken card.
